Maple Blues Award winning piano pounder David Vest and his band will visit Nanaimo on Thursday, Nov. 2 for a show at The Queen’s. Joining Vest will be a special guest, Chicago-born guitar legend Peter Dammann, a member of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and Vest’s former bandmate in the Paul deLay Band.

They don’t make them as real as David Vest anymore. The son of an Alabama sharecropper, the Victoria BC resident is still going strong over 50 years after he first stepped on stage with the likes of Roy Orbison and Big Joe Turner. Long revered as one of the great boogie-woogie piano players, he  is a three-time winner of the Maple Blues Award for Piano Player of The Year (2013, 2015, 2016). He's also a highly-regarded songwriter, whose songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Tammy Wynette to the Legendary Downchild Blues Band, who perform a song written by Vest on their new album.

Devestatin’ Rhythm is his latest release, and the title just about sums up what to expect at his shows.
